(Nick Galifianakis for The Post) | Dear Carolyn: My husband is very good at home repairs but has a hard time starting and finishing them. He is so good that he won't agree to hire anyone to do work in the house, because he thinks he could do it better. We have a major repair half-done since before Christmas. It's made the kitchen a disaster area and the nearby bathroom unusable. My husband has a very stressful full-time job that leaves him exhausted, and I know he needs his free time to rest. But every time I suggest finding a carpenter or builder to get the repair done, he completely loses his temper and says he'll do it. But he hasn't worked on it at all in five months. Meanwhile we can't have guests over and every time I see the disaster area, it depresses me. What can I do? — Disaster Area |
