| Nyiah, who was set to enter the first grade this fall, was shot the night of July 16 in the Congress Heights neighborhood of Southeast Washington. Her mother and four others also were wounded when shots were fired from a vehicle. A 22-year-old man has been charged with first-degree murder while armed, according to two police officials who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss the arrest before it is formally announced. |
