What it is the difference between an antimacassar and an anti-masker? One is from the old days, when a small cloth was put on the tops of high-backed easy chairs to protect the fabric from hair oil, the other occasionally spits at flight attendants.
Resisting instructions to don a mask, as Helaine Olen writes, is just one of several reasons why airline passengers lately have grown increasingly fond of making air travel even more unpleasant than usual. "Is it frustration with different ways people address — or ignore — covid-19 risk? Is the anger in American life and politics simply making its way into flight cabins? Does the absence of business travelers mean more seats are being filled by vacationers unused to mask mandates or other regulations?"
