We're coming together to remember the victims of the Transatlantic Slave Trade, reflect on its legacy, and honour the freedom fighters who fought for its abolition. The event's theme is Justice and Restoration. It will be presented by Yvonne Field, Founder and CEO of The Ubele Initiative. We will be joined by great speakers: - Dr Debbie Weekes-Bernard, Deputy Mayor for Communities and Social Justice
- Prof. Sir Hilary Beckles, Vice-Chancellor of the University of West Indies
- Gabriela Ramos, Asst. Director-General of Social & Human Sciences at UNESCO
- Jean-françois Manicom, Lead Curator of Transatlantic Slavery and Legacies at the International Slavery Museum
There will also be several performances, including music from Chineke! Orchestra. Join me at this free digital event on Monday 23 August 6:30pm to 8:00pm. You will be able to submit your questions to the speakers on the night. | | | |
