| Spavor and former Canadian diplomat Michael Kovrig, known together as the Two Michaels, were detained by China in December 2018 in what's widely viewed as retaliation for the Canadian arrest of Huawei executive Meng Wanzhou on behalf of the United States. Meng is contesting extradition to the United States to face fraud charges. Kovrig has not been sentenced. |
