| Alexanda Kotey, 37, was among a group of Islamic State members who abducted and beheaded Americans in Syria. Kotey is the first person convicted in a U.S. court in connection with the series of slayings. Journalists James Foley and Steven Sotloff and aid workers Peter Kassig and Kayla Mueller were killed by the militants. The three men were beheaded on camera in videos posted online. Foley was abducted in 2012 and the other three victims were abducted in 2013. |
