| Adiba Nelson today writes about a new show on PBS Kids, called Alma's Way. It was created by Sonia Manzano – yes, that would be Maria from "Sesame Street" (or as a colleague pointed out, Sonia from the original cast of "Godspell") with, of course, kids in mind. Manzano tells us in this piece that she wants children to watch Alma's Way and remember that their ideas matter, that learning matters, that they matter. With this show, Nelson, who is Afro Latina, writes that she can finally say to her daughter: "'Hey, Em — check this out! This kid is just like you!' and not struggle to figure out ways to show her that she fits into the world." Lucky kids these days, no? Enjoy your Tuesday, everyone.
