Van Dyke, who was coming off a shoulder injury that limited him to nine games last season, was 17 of 22 with no interceptions. He connected with Colbie Young for a 44-yard touchdown on the Hurricanes' first offensive possession.

Freshman Mark Fletcher Jr. scored on a 26-yard run in the second half, and Henry Parrish Jr. added a 12-yard rushing score in the fourth quarter.

The Hurricanes' running backs combined for 372 yards on 50 carries. Parrish led the way with 90 yards, while Don Chaney Jr. had 82 yards and Fletcher had 70.

Miami's defense held the RedHawks to just 241 total yards. Miami-Ohio quarterback Brett Gabbert was 12 of 21 for 127 yards.

The Hurricanes' victory snapped a five-game home losing streak. They will face No. 23 Texas A&M next Saturday at Hard Rock Stadium.

The Real Miami?

The battle between the Miami Hurricanes and the Miami-Ohio RedHawks has been dubbed the “Confusion Bowl,” and there has been subtle jabbing about which team is the “real” Miami.

The RedHawks (established 1809) are Miami University, and the Hurricanes (established 1925) are the University of Miami. The latter is the more well-known school, having won five national championships in football.

“The real Miami is where?” a reporter asked Gabbert during a news conference earlier this week.

“Oxford, Ohio,” Gabbert replied. “We'll show them September 1.”

The Hurricanes did just that, dominating the RedHawks from start to finish.

Miami-Ohio: The RedHawks were outmatched and outgunned by the Hurricanes. They were unable to generate any offense against Miami's stout defense.
