British singer-songwriter RAYE has voiced her heartbreak and frustration after dozens of fans were barred from entering her sold-out concert at Paris' Accor Arena. The incident, which took place on Sunday, February 15, left 65 ticket holders stranded outside the venue due to what has been described as a major technical failure. Taking to social media on Tuesday, the "Escapism" singer issued a heartfelt statement to address the "completely unacceptable" situation and offer a generous compensation package to those affected.
A 'System Error' at Ticketmaster Leaves Fans Stranded
The issue came to light during the final stop of the European leg of RAYE’s current world tour. According to the artist, the 65 fans were denied entry because their tickets were not fully validated at the time of purchase, despite being bought through official channels. RAYE clarified that the mishap was a "system error" on Ticketmaster’s end and was entirely outside of her team's control.
"I am completely devastated for the 65 ticket holders who were turned down from entering our Paris show on Sunday night," RAYE wrote in a post on X. "This is completely unacceptable and wrong. I have been told this was a system error at Ticketmaster... I feel saddened and let down."
Ticketmaster confirmed the technical glitch, stating that a "small number of fans experienced a technical issue when entering the show." While the company noted that the affected tickets represented less than 0.6% of the total sold, the impact on the individual fans who traveled to see the Brit Award winner was significant. Ticketmaster has since issued full refunds and gift card vouchers to those involved.
RAYE Goes Above and Beyond to Make Amends
Known for her deep connection with her fanbase, RAYE felt that a simple refund from the ticketing giant was not enough to make up for the missed experience. In her statement, she announced that she would be personally providing additional compensation to the 65 fans to "soften the blow" of the technical error.
"I know this doesn’t even remotely make up for this mess, but it’s all I can think of in this moment," RAYE added.
